Sursock Yards a new high-end residential development located in the center of Quartier Sursock, one of the most prestigious of Beirut/Rmeil and walking distance from the vibrant are of Downtown Solidere. The soil consisted of marlstone deposit with some silty sand. Surrounding the site existed several multi-storey buildings with their foundation being on the property limit. The geotechnical work involved the installation of dewatering well point system by means of 4 deep wells to lower the water table about 4 meters from existing level. Also, shoring system was designed and implemented to enable excavation depth to be carried out to 17 m (5 Basements). The works involved the installation of cast-in-situ shoring piles (diameter 800mm ; length =22m) and multi-rows of prestressed anchors (Strands & ducts), shotcrete and surface preparation. Value of geotechnical works is US $ 1.5 million.
